Free School Meals [FSM] during the summer holidays
As you may have seen in the news the Government has decided to extend the voucher scheme for those young people eligible for FSM during the summer holiday. If you are currently accessing FSM, you will continue to receive your vouchers through Edenred UK, the Government FSM scheme, until the end of the summer holidays.
During these difficult times, your family circumstances may have changed, and you may now be eligible for FSM. Please find below more information about how you can apply to receive Free School Meals.
Who is eligible?
If you or your child is receiving any of the following benefits, they may be eligible for free school meals:
- Income support
- Income based Jobseekers Allowance
- Income related Employment Support Allowance
- Guaranteed Element of State Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit (but not Working Tax Credit) and have an annual income of less than £16,190
- Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for four weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
- Universal Credit (your household income must be less than £7,400 a year after tax and not including any benefits you receive)
My child may be eligible – how do I claim?
If you think that your child is eligible, it is important to apply as soon as possible so that you can start to receive the vouchers. Access the Local Authority’s free school meal website page https://www.bristol.gov.uk/schools-learning-early-years/free-school-meals, or search for Bristol City Council Free School Meals and follow the instructions carefully.

Once you have completed the form you will receive an acknowledgement email, and the Local Authority will be in touch with us directly. It may speed up the process if you were to let us know if you have made a successful application, by emailing the confirmation to us [christ.the.king.p@bristol-schools.uk]. We will then arrange for Edenred UK
