Dear Parents/Carers,
Safety at the end of the school day

Recently we have had some problems with children being collected by the parents of other children. This has been arranged by parents, but the school has not alawys been informed. We must have permission for any adult, other than the parent/carer, to collect a child from school. If this is an ongoing arrangement, can you put this in writing or  speak to a member of staff in the office. If this arrangement is not regular, but somebody else is collecting your child, please let us know as early in the school day as possible, so we have time to inform the relevant staff. Thank you for your cooperation.

Internet Safety Session for Parents

We will be holding a parents’ information session focusing on internet safety on Thursday 9th November, 3.30pm - 4.15pm. During this meeting we will look at some of the key issues regarding internet safety and the follow up with other sessions supporting parents on specific issues.

Maths Learning Session for Parents - Later in Term 2

Following feedback from parent’s evening, we will be holding a parents’ information meeting looking at the teaching of maths in school. The date will be shared in the next newsletter.

New Homework Guidance

During parents evening we shared our updated homework guidance. We hope that this gives clarity and supports parents with children’s learning at home. If there are any ongoing concerns about homework, please speak to your child’s class teacher.

Christmas Lunch

Christmas lunch will take place on 13th December.  Please telephone the school if you DO NOT WISH your child to have a hot christmas dinner.

Matthew Tree Project

Thank you so much for your wonderful response to our Harvest collection for The Matthew Tree Project. Pete Godden from the Project came to assembly on Monday and was amazed at the amount of food and toiletries we had collected. He asked us to pass on his thanks, on behalf of the people the Project supports in our local area.
School of Christ the King continues to be a referral agency for the Project, which means Mrs Selway can refer families in need of support directly to the Project.
We would like to continue to have a link with this great organisation, so we will be leaving a crate in the reception area permanently for you to drop items in whenever you want to. Thanks once again for your incredible support
Good Attendance!

Well done to the following classes for achieving 97% or more attendance this week:

  • Year 2 - 98%
  • Year 3 - 98%
  • Year 5 - 97%

Do you have a concern about crime in your local community? If so you can contact Crimestoppers to share information anonymously

WhyContactCrimestoppers
As an independent charity, we are not part of the police. When you contact us you won't be identified. The only person who knows you contacted us with information is you.
We know that it can be difficult to come forward with information. You might have seen or heard something about a crime but don't know what to do, or are scared to come forward. It's easy to think there is nothing you can do, but we offer you a safe way to do this.
Our statistics for 2014-15 show that around 14 people are arrested and charged every day thanks to the information we receive from the public - your information can make a difference.
  • We will listen to you about any crime that you have information about.
  • We don’t record any personal details about you.
  • We pass information to the relevant authority without revealing your identity.
  • All of our call agents are trained to support you through the process.
In the 26 years that we have been running, no one has ever been identified after giving information. It is vital that we guarantee your anonymity because if your identity became known, our reputation would be seriously damaged.
Crimestoppers is not an emergency service and if you see a crime taking place you should ring 999 to report it immediately.
Also, if you want to contact the police, but it is not an emergency, please phone 101.
