Dear Parents/Carers,

After School Care - Chill Time Klub

A reminder that Chill Time Klub is the after school care available to all children in the school. The club runs from 3.15pm to 4.30pm at a cost of £3.50.

Lenten Collection

Thank you for your support during our lent collection.  Next Friday will be the Easter Egg Raffle.  Children can buy raffle tickets for 20p each.

Chartwells - School Meals

Chartwells will be holding a taster session on 8th May at 2.30pm.

All parents and carers are invited into school to sample the school cooking and ask any questions and give any feedback to the Company.

Attendance 

Great attendance this week. Well done to the following classes who had attendance at over 97%:

  • Year 2 = 98%
  • Year 4 = 99%
  • Year 5 = 100%

This means that Years 4 & 5 will have non uniform on Friday 5th April 2019.

Summer Chill Time Klub

Summer Chill Time Klub will run again during the summer holiday.  The ‘Klub’ will be open on w/c 29th July and 5th August.   If you would like to book your child into the Klub please telephone the school office.

Dear Parents/Carers,

Section 48 Inspection 

Back in February the school was visited by inspectors looking at Religious Education and the Catholic life of the school. Overall Effectiveness of the school was judged to be Good. Well done to all involved in the school community for achieving this positive result. There are many highlights in the report, but we are especially proud of the comments from the parent questionnaires.

There were 140 parental questionnaires received.  All were positive about the school and their children’s education.  Some typical responses included:

‘The school is promoting values that I would like my children to live by. The school is exceptionally helpful and supportive’.

‘The school supports each child to become an engaged and curious learner and confident’.

‘The school provides opportunities for my child to develop spiritually’.

‘All of the teachers go out of their way to help each child reach their goal’.

‘Very grateful to all staff for the atmosphere and environment they create through their faith’.

‘I liked the atmosphere when I walked in the first time’.

‘Teacher and pupil relationships, kind and supportive staff’.

We thank you all for your support. A copy of this report will be sent home with a paper copy today.

School Uniform Reminder

A reminder that children should not be wearing leggings or tracksuit bottoms.  Earrings can be worn as long as they are just simple stud earrings.  Thank you.

Parent Governor Vacancy

As I am sure you are aware, all schools have a Governing Body who support the Headteacher and the Senior Leadership Team in their endeavours to make this school an outstanding establishment where all children thrive.

We now have a vacancy on our Governing Body for a Parent Governor.  All parents are eligible to apply for this voluntary role and we would ask you to contact the school office if you would like your name to be put forward.

Meetings are termly and  run from 3:30 to 5:30pm.   An interest in the school and finding out more about the way that the school is managed is the first consideration and if you have any specific skills with budgets or experience with staffing issues you would be particularly welcome.

If you would like further information please speak to Miss Roberts in the office who will either be able to help you or will put you in touch with the Clerk to the Governors to answer any specific questions. Alternatively just come and have a chat with me about the role at the school gates.

Reading Volunteers

To give children even more opportunities to read regularly, we are planning to create a Christ the King Team of Reading Volunteers. We are planning to offer volunteers training and support so that they can help children’s reading improve. If you are interested, and are able to offer some time on a regular basis, please contact the school office and Miss Gaunt will make contact to give you more information.

Lateness

To encourage children to be on time for school and for parents/carers to collect children on time (3.15pm), we will be sending a polite text message as a reminder where there is a concern.

Cosmos Choir

Cosmos Choir will be performing at St George’s concert hall, just off Park Street, on 14th March.
