Dear Parents/Carers,
Staff Training Day - 3rd January 2017
Our 4th INSET Day will be on Tuesday 3rd January. This means that Term 3 will begin for children on Wednesday 4th January 2017.
Prospective Parent Tours for Reception 2017
New Parents’ Tours for children starting in September 2017 are Monday 28th November at 10:00am and Monday 5th December at 10.00am.
These tours will last one hour and will include:
  • A brief meeting with the headteacher.
  • A tour of the school led by some Year 6 children.
  • An opportunity to spend some time in Reception and informally ask the teacher any questions.
Please contact the school office if you would like to attend as tours will only take place when parents have confirmed attendance.
Parent Helpers for School Trips
We would like to create a small team of parents who are avaialble to help out with school trips. We would offer some simple training and a full DBS clearance to ensure safety. Parent volunteers would not nesecarily be on trips with their own child’s class but would have a great opportunity to support the school and our children. Please contact the school office if you are interested.
Christmas Disco
This event will take place on Wednesday 7th December.   Infant children will have their disco from 3:15pm to 4:15pm and Juniors will be from 4:30pm to 6:00pm.  Entry to the disco will be tickets only and will cost £1.00. Tickets are being sold each morning and at the end of the day, at the rear entrance to the school, by Kim Porter (Mum of Declan in Reception).
Pop-Up ‘Cop Shop’
Local police have asked us to let you all know about a forthcoming pop-up ‘cop shop’ on the 1st floor of  the Mall Galleries, Broadmead, Bristol City Centre, near WH Smiths and Boots.
The theme of the ‘cop shop’ will be crime reduction and there will be a “Who Stole Christmas?” themed crime scene for members of the public to visit and try and solve the crime looking at all the clues.  Correct answers will be entered into a prize draw and is suitable for all ages.
Prizes will also be awarded for winning posters brought along in person as follows:
1)   Primary Children are asked to design a poster about reducing crime at Christmas. It needs to be A4 sized with name, age, school and a contact number on back please. Bring it down to the cop shop between dates below.
2)   Secondary school students are asked to design a poster about internet safety. It needs to be A4 sized with your name, age, school and a contact number on the back please. Bring down to the cop shop between dates below.
The cop shop opens on Fri 25th November until the 21st December and follows normal shop opening times.
There will be lots of prizes for children to win!

Online Payments
We are delighted to announce that we are now in a position to offer the facility for parents to make payments online for school activities such as school dinners, school trips, school book bags and photos etc!
There is an immeasurable amount of valuable time spent on collecting and keeping track of what payments have been received for the numerous events that take place. This, combined with the burden that you may endure in either finding the correct change or writing a cheque to pay for your child’s activities can at times be frustrating.
The new schoolmoney.co.uk facility will allow for both parties to experience a more streamlined, cost-effective and efficient payment collection system in a secure and safe environment.
If you do not have access to a bank account or online facilities, payments can be paid by Paypoint – please contact the school office for further details.
From time to time you will receive a text message from the school inviting you to access a website as an option to make a payment for an activity. We would appreciate your support in this matter.
To ensure that we all experience maximum benefit from this service, we would ask all parents to notify us if you have recently changed your mobile number and/or email address.
You will receive a welcome text from school money with details of how to log-on and your unique password.
The on-line payment facilities will go live from Saturday 15th October.
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
