Dear Parents/Carers,
Year 2 Curriculum - Studying a Non-European Country

Year 2 this year are studying life in a non-European country. If you have a child in Year 2, and have family links with a non-European country, please see Miss Letherby or speak to Miss Roberts in the school office. Miss Letherby would like to plan learning around the culture and experiences of children in her class.

Parking outside school

A polite notice - please do not park across neighbours driveways when dropping and picking your child up from school.

Bristol Family Cycling Centre

There is a Bristol Family Cycling Centre at the Old Whitchurch Athletics Track on Bamfield Road in Whitchurch.  Please look at their website betterbybike.info/familycyclingcentre for more details on what they can offer you and your family.

Filwood Community Centre
Filwood Community Centre on Barnstaple Road have asked us to let you know about some family friendly events that are happening at Filwood Community Centre, and would like to share with you their website and facebook information so that you can find out more about what happens in the Community Centre.
#filgoodfriday – these are family friendly events every second Friday of the month in the main hall of the community centre with the Broadway Bar open. The next one is Friday 14th October 2016 at 7pm. Tickets are available in advance from the community centre office or online and cost £4 per adult, £2 per child and £10 for a family ticket (two adults and up to three children). The theme for October is Samba dance party. Tickets are available on the door but do cost £1 more.
Ricky Hatton Box Exercise Class
Matt Thompson is a local personal trainer who is running box exercise classes in the sports hall in the community centre on Monday mornings (9.15-10am) and Fridays (2.00pm – 2.45pm)
These are a great way to get fit and have fun. Why not drop in after dropping the children off at school.
Community Centre Cafe
The community centre had a pop-up café at the Knowle West Fest and would like to make this a permanent feature of the community centre. If you would like to see this happen, please pop onto our facebook page filwoodcommunitycentre and drop us a note! You can email jo@cipkw.org.uk as well to get involved.

Governing Body Vacancy
As I am sure you are aware, all schools have a Governing Body who support the Headteacher and the Senior Leadership Team in their endeavours to make this school an outstanding establishment where all children thrive.
We now have a vacancy on our Governing Body for a Parent Governor.  All parents are eligible to apply for this voluntary role and we would ask you to contact the school office if you would like your name to be put forward.
Currently, the vacancy will be to support the work of the Staffing and Resources sub committee which will meet termly in addition to the Full Governing Body meetings which are also termly.  Meetings will run from 3:30 to 5:30.   An interest in the school and finding out more about the way that the school is managed is the first consideration and if you have any specific skills with budgets or experience with staffing issues you would be particularly welcome.
If you would like further information please speak to Miss Roberts in the office who will either be able to help you or will put you in touch with the Clerk to the Governors to answer any specific questions.
We look forward to hearing from you.
