School Uniform - Jewellery and Nail Varnish

Can we remind parents that children should not wear any jewellery into school except watches and small stud earrings. Also can we remind all children and parents that nail varnish should not be worn in school.

Chris Marsh

We are very sorry to hear about the death of 14-year-old Chris Marsh, who died after he was struck by a car while crossing the road last Saturday in Novers Lane.

Chris was struck by a car after getting off the a bus on Novers Lane in Knowle West on Saturday, February 17. He was rushed to hospital, but on Wednesday February 21 police confirmed he had died at Southmead Hospital.

A Just Giving page has been set up to support the family in their funeral costs - www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/helpchrismarshfamily

If any children or parents would like to make a cash donation, we are having a collection in school and will pass any donations via the Just Giving page.

The local Scout Group have also arranged a tea and cake sale at Filwood Community Centre on Wednesday 28th February from 3:30pm to 7:00pm.

In school, we will be talking to children again about road safety.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this sad and difficult time.

Children Walking to and from School Safely

All children in the infants MUST be collected by an adult known to the school.

If your child is in the Juniors please inform the school office if they are allowed walk to or from school alone.

It is recommended by the government for the safeguarding of children that they do not walk home alone from school until they are 10 years old.

Following this guidance the school strongly recommends only children in Year 5 & 6 walk to or from school alone. Younger children are at risk even if they are walking short distances alone.

A list will be given to school staff indicating if your child can walk alone, should you decide to change these arrangements it is your responsibility to inform the school office.

Parents Evening

We will be holding Parents’ Evening on the Tuesday and Wednesday 27th & 28th February. Please telephone the school office to make an appointment (01179664844).
