Dear Parents and Carers,

After School Clubs

Youth Moves at The Park, Daventry Road are running a Junior Club – here are the details:

Reading at Home

Reading is the most important homework that parents can do with primary school children.

It is vital that children realise that his or her parents take an interest in and value the reading experience. Remember, your child's education is a partnership between home and school.

We hope that all parents will enthusiastically encourage their children to read at home by sharing a book with them. For younger children please use their reading records to show they are reading at home.

Global Club

A short piece about global club written by Riley in Year 4.

Global Club was for teaching and having fun. We were learning about people in Africa and Fair Trade. Fair Trade is when farmers get the right amount of money for the things they grow. We found out about flags from different countries, we planted cress and we tasted Fair Trade chocolate. At the end we had a great party with food from other countries, like Twinkies, pizza, guacamole and tortilla. We learned a lot. It was the best fun ever!

Celebration Assembly

The next Celebration Assembly will be on Monday 29th February at 9am, where the following children will receive their Headteacher's Award:   Missey (YR), Freddie (Y1), Romiel (Y2), Jesse (Y3), Logan M (Y4), Dawid (Y5) and Kian (Y6).

Attendance! Attendance! Attendance!

Well done to the following classes whohad attendance at over 97% this week:
  • Year 4 with 97% attendance
  •  Year 5 with 98% attendance

World Book Day

Due to a very busy timetable next week, we will be celebrating World Book Day on Wednesday 9th March. We will be asking children to come into school dressed as their favorite book character.

Celebrating Great Attendance Next Week!

As you are aware, School of Christ the King is giving a high priority to improving attendance and good punctuality. A number of initiatives have been implemented in the school, to raise both pupil and parent awareness of this issue and the benefits of good attendance.

One initiative we have started is a whole class non-school uniform day. This is awarded once a week to any class for 100% attendance/most punctual class.

We have also planned a 100% attendance presentation when each class will have a special draw where children can win a new storybook. We will be entering all children with 100% attendance and who have no more than 2 late arrivals to school. Each 100% child will be given a ticket on Tuesday 1st March which they need to bring to the following day’s assembly. This ticket also means they can wear their own clothes on Wednesday 2ndMarch.
