Dear Parents and Carers,

Celebrating Great Attendance in Term 3

As you know, we have planned a 100% attendance presentation when each class will have a special draw where children can win a new storybook.

This is going to be a termly event, which means children have a chance to participate 6 times in any year.

Each child with 100% attendance in Term 3, will be given a ticket tomorrow, which means they can wear their own clothes on Wednesday 2nd March.

They will also be given another ticket which they need to bring to the Wednesday’s assembly, so they can enter the draw for each class.

Yours sincerely,

Matt Condon

Dear Parents and Carers,

After School Clubs

Youth Moves at The Park, Daventry Road are running a Junior Club – here are the details:

Reading at Home

Reading is the most important homework that parents can do with primary school children.

It is vital that children realise that his or her parents take an interest in and value the reading experience. Remember, your child's education is a partnership between home and school.

We hope that all parents will enthusiastically encourage their children to read at home by sharing a book with them. For younger children please use their reading records to show they are reading at home.

Global Club

A short piece about global club written by Riley in Year 4.

Global Club was for teaching and having fun. We were learning about people in Africa and Fair Trade. Fair Trade is when farmers get the right amount of money for the things they grow. We found out about flags from different countries, we planted cress and we tasted Fair Trade chocolate. At the end we had a great party with food from other countries, like Twinkies, pizza, guacamole and tortilla. We learned a lot. It was the best fun ever!

Celebration Assembly

The next Celebration Assembly will be on Monday 29th February at 9am, where the following children will receive their Headteacher's Award:   Missey (YR), Freddie (Y1), Romiel (Y2), Jesse (Y3), Logan M (Y4), Dawid (Y5) and Kian (Y6).

Attendance! Attendance! Attendance!

Well done to the following classes whohad attendance at over 97% this week:
  • Year 4 with 97% attendance
  •  Year 5 with 98% attendance

World Book Day

Due to a very busy timetable next week, we will be celebrating World Book Day on Wednesday 9th March. We will be asking children to come into school dressed as their favorite book character.

Celebrating Great Attendance Next Week!

As you are aware, School of Christ the King is giving a high priority to improving attendance and good punctuality. A number of initiatives have been implemented in the school, to raise both pupil and parent awareness of this issue and the benefits of good attendance.

One initiative we have started is a whole class non-school uniform day. This is awarded once a week to any class for 100% attendance/most punctual class.

We have also planned a 100% attendance presentation when each class will have a special draw where children can win a new storybook. We will be entering all children with 100% attendance and who have no more than 2 late arrivals to school. Each 100% child will be given a ticket on Tuesday 1st March which they need to bring to the following day’s assembly. This ticket also means they can wear their own clothes on Wednesday 2ndMarch.

Dear Parents and Carers,

It’s been a great start to the new term!

Year 1 and 2’s 100 Days of Learning

Today Year 1 and Year 2 celebrated 100 days of learning. The children had a great day of fun and learning. Thanks to everybody at home for supporting the children with costumes and lots of number work!

Year 5 and 6 on Television!

We were very proud that our Year 5 and 6 were featured on BBC1’s ‘Inside Out’, which was broadcast earlier this week. The story focused on the work of Bristol Old Vic Theatre and its work supporting the community. This program can be found on BBC iPlayer.

Parking outside school

Can we please ask everybody to park considerately. Recently an ambulance was unable to pass outside school as cars were parked on both sides of the road.

You may have also noticed that a Traffic Warden has been patrolling outside school. Traffic Wardens are able to issue fines to drivers who are parked on zig-zag lines and the allocated loading bay.

Dear Parents and Carers,

It’s been a great term and we would like to thank you all for your support. The team here is committed to providing excellent care and education for all your children. I am very proud to be the headteacher of School of Christ the King.

Stranger Danger

We have been alerted to an incident that took place yesterday where a primary school child, in a local school, was approached by two adults who asked him to get into their car.

Thankfully, the boy acted very sensibly, not responding to their request and alerting responsible adults quickly.

We will be alerting all our children today and ask you all to reinforce this at home.

BE ALERT, NOT ALARMED!

School Blog and Newsletter Blog

Internet and Mobile Safety

In Key Stage Two during the past few weeks, many problems have been caused by children accessing social media (i.e. Facebook etc) and using it inappropriately in ways that are causing distress to themselves and among their peers. May we remind you that these sites are aimed at people of at least 13 years or over and we have been advised by the police that you, as responsible parents, should be monitoring what sites/APPs your children access.  Similar, upsetting, incidents have been caused through inappropriate texting between children. We take these incidents very seriously as they are a form of bullying.  If your child uses a mobile phone to text, please ensure that they know how to use it responsibly and are doing so.

Attendance! Attendance! Attendance!

Well done to the following classes who had attendance at over 97% last week:

A massive well done to Year 1 who had 100% attendance this week! They will have a special non-uniform day on Friday 27thFebruary.

Parents have been enquiring about local clubs for their children. To help we would like to publish contact details of clubs and organisations in the local area. If you know of a good club or group please let us know, so we can share details with the whole school community.
