 Dear Parents and Carers,

We have had a fantastic first week back in school. It has been lovely to see the childrens’ smiling faces - they have worked really hard, as we all get back into the swing of school life.

Her Majesty The Queen

Buckingham Palace has announced the sad death of Her Majesty The Queen. The Chaplaincy Team led today’s assembly, as we remembered the life of our longest reigning monarch.  Our prayers, thoughts and condolences are with the Royal Family during this difficult time. May she rest in peace.

Headteacher’s Awards

Year 1 - Alexander for excellent reading . You read fluently and made good use of expression - well done.

Year 2 - Jenson for supporting and helping a new child to settle into class. You have been kind, friendly and keen to help Dmytro become part of our new class team.

Vicka - for reading to Dmytro, both in English and then translating - amazing team player!

Year 3 - Olivia for her enthusiasm and excellent participation in class this week. Well done on your fantastic start in Year 3, Olivia!

Lily-Rose - for her thoughtful and beautifully decorated prayer for Queen Elizabeth II.

Year 4 - Baylee for being organised, listening to instructions and having a fantastic first week in Year 4 - well done!

Year 5 - Ronnie for her independent use of vocabulary to create an atmosphere with her writing.

Year 6 - Declan for his brilliant start to Year 6 where he has shown lots of independence with his work and maturity around school.

Freya for her beautiful, reflective and reverent poem for Queen Elizabeth II.

Attendance

We have had a FANTASTIC first week back and attendance has been brilliant, especially in Year 1, who have achieved 100% attendance!!

Years 3,4 & 5 also achieved 98% attendance which is a great start! We hope to see more great figures like this as the year goes on.

After School Clubs

School clubs are starting next week.

Wednesday: Years 3-6 - Basketball

Wednesday: Year 5 - Art (every fortnight - see below for further details)

Thursday: Years 1 & 2 - Multi Sports (focussing on balls skills, including Netball & Basketball)

Friday: Year 6 - Archery

Friday: Years 4, 5 & 6 - Chess

To support the rising cost of living, this term, after school clubs are being offered as a free provision. Clubs run until 4pm. Please book as soon as possible, to guarantee your child’s place. Children must book and commit to clubs for an entire term. As clubs are traditionally very popular, more than two unexplained absences may result in your child losing their place.  If you would like your child to attend Chill, after their club, there is a reduced charge of £2. Your child can then attend Chill until 4:30pm. To book clubs, please download the School Gateway App. Contact the school, if you have any questions.

PE Time Table for Term 1

Reception: Tuesday & Wednesday

Year 1: Thursday

Year 2: Tuesday

Year 3: Thursday & Friday

Year 4: Monday, in addition to swimming is on Wednesday

Year 5: Tuesday & Wednesday

Year 6: Monday & Friday

PE Kit:

Plain white round neck t-shirt, with no logos

plain black sport shorts or plain black jogging bottoms or plain black leggings

Trainers or daps.

We are continuing to ask children to come to school in their PE kit, on their allocated day.

School Uniform

The children are looking super smart, as the new school year begins. A reminder of school uniform is:

Red school jumper, cardigan or fleece

Plain black/dark grey school trousers, shirt or shorts

Plain white or red polo shirt or white button up school shirt/blouse

Plain black school shoes or plain black trainers (with no coloured logos)

No jewellery, apart from stud earring, as hoops can be caught during PE and/or playtime

Please be reminded, however, that whilst we have certain expectations surrounding our uniform, parents are by no means obliged to purchase jumpers/cardigans etc showing the school logo.

We understand that with the cost of living rising rapidly, uniforms can be a worry to some parents, so unbranded school jumpers are more than acceptable as long as they are in the school colours.

If you have any ongoing concerns surrounding the cost of uniform for your child/children, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will endeavour to support you with this.

Sports Day

Sports day will be held at Filwood Fields on Friday 16th September.  All children in Years 1 - 6 must come in PE kit on Friday and have a water bottle in school. Parents and carers, you are welcome to come and watch your child in the running races and jumping and throwing challenges. Please remain outside of the white barrier when watching.

Y1, Y2 and Y3 sports day will be 9:15 - 10:15

Y4, Y5, and Y6 sports day will be 11:15 - 12:15

The event is weather permitting - if it looks like it will rain, we will cancel it.
