School Funding - a Request for Help
Did you know that the Government calculates part of our school funding based on the number of pupils that have a school meal on Census Day?
Help us maximise our funding by encouraging your child to have a school meal on Thursday 16th May, when the main menu will be fish and chips.
As always, we appreciate your support.
Pupil Health and Well-being Survey
We would like to share a few key statements from a recent survey completed in January by our Year 5 and 6 pupils. The results were positive, informative and in line with recent inspection findings. They also direct us towards the continual updating of our health and well-being curriculum.
A few of the survey findings are as follows (The figure in brackets represents other Bristol schools):
School
- 80% (compared to 63% across Bristol) of pupils feel that their school cares whether they are happy or not and 92% (compared to 89% across Bristol) said their work is marked so they can see how to improve it.
- 94% (compared to 84% across Bristol) of pupils responded that they think it is important to go to school every day.
- 94% (compared to 81% across Bristol) of pupils responded that their school thinks stopping/preventing bullying is important, while 0% (compared to 4%) said their school doesn’t think it is.
Health
- 70% (compared to 44% across Bristol) of pupils responded that they had a school lunch on the day before the survey, while 0% (1%) said they bought lunch from a takeaway or shop.
- 63% (compared to 83% across Bristol ) of pupils responded that they were active enough to breathe harder and faster or feel hot and sweaty for at least half an hour on at least three days, in the week before the survey .
- 28% (compared to 11% across Bristol) of pupils responded that they didn’t eat any portions of fruit or vegetables on the day before the survey.
Year 6 SATs Breakfast Club
The Year 6 children will have a Breakfast Club starting at 8am for the week of SATs tests from 13th May. In the past, this has proven to be good for the children and has helped them to get the best results possible.
Our Year 6 children and their teachers have worked incredibly hard and we wish them a happy and successful week.
Parking Outside School
Please do not park in the loading bay when dropping or collecting your children from school. If a traffic enforcement car drove past you could still be liable to a fine. The loading bays are for coaches, mini buses or deliveries.

The first day of the new academic year (Monday 2nd September 2019) will also be an INSET (school closed). This means that Tuesday 3rd September will be the start of the academic year for children.
