Dear Parents/Carers,
Feedback from Questionnaire
A big thank you to all of you who completed questionnaires during parents’ evening last week. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive and the full results are available on the website, just below the newsletter link. Some highlights of the feedback was 100% parents agreeing or strongly agreeing with the following statements:
  • My child is happy at school
  • My child feels safe at school
  • My child makes good progress at this school
  • My child is well looked after at this school
  • My child is taught well at this school
  • This school makes sure its pupils are well behaved
  • This school is well led and managed
  • This school responds well to any concerns I raise
  • Would you recommend this school to another parent?

The most common area identified for improvement was homework, which was identified as an issue by 6 parents. As a result we are reviewing our homework to mak sure we give all children good opportunities to learn at home. .
CTK Reading Volunteer Army
To give children even more opportunities to read regularly, we are planning to create a Christ the King ‘Army’ of Reading Volunteers. We are planning to offer volunteers training and support so that they can help children’s reading improve. If you are interested, and are able to offer some time on a regular basis, please contact the school office and Mrs Higgins will make contact to give you more information.
Staff Training Day - 3rd January 2017
Our 4th INSET Day will be on Tuesday 3rd January. This means that Term 3 will begin for children on Wednesday 4th January 2017.
Prospective Parent Tours for Reception 2017
Our next New Parents’ Tours for children is on September 2017 is on Monday 5th December at 10.00am.
These tours will last one hour and will include:
  • A brief meeting with the headteacher.
  • A tour of the school led by some Year 6 children.
  • An opportunity to spend some time in Reception and informally ask the teacher any questions.
Please contact the school office if you would like to attend as tours will only take place when parents have confirmed attendance.
Parent Helpers for School Trips
We would like to create a small team of parents who are available to help out with school trips. We would offer some simple training and a full DBS clearance to ensure safety. Parent volunteers would not necessarily be on trips with their own child’s class but would have a great opportunity to support the school and our children. Please contact the school office if you are interested.
Christmas Disco
This event will take place on Wednesday 7th December.   Infant children will have their disco from 3:15pm to 4:15pm and Juniors will be from 4:30pm to 6:00pm.  Entry to the disco will be tickets only and will cost £1.00. Tickets are being sold each morning and at the end of the day, at the rear entrance to the school, by Kim Porter (Mum of Declan in Reception).  As they are on a school trip to the Colston Hall, children in Years 1 and 2  can bring a change of clothes in a labelled carrier back to change into at the end of the day. Children will need to be able to dress themselves.
Children in Reception can wear their party clothes to school on that day.
Children in Years 3-6 need to wear their school uniform on this day.
Christmas Dinner
The children’s Christmas dinner day is on the 14th December.  If your child would like a Christmas dinner please make the payment of £2.25 by 8th December.
