Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome to the last newsletter of this school year. The children have had another great year of learning and friendship. Can I thank you all for your support.
Ofsted Inspection
As you all know a team of Ofsted Inspectors visited the school this week. Can I thank all parents for your tremendous support and thank the children for being enthusiastic learners as always. We will publish inspection findings as soon as we are able.
Attendance
Well done to the following classes who had attendance at over 97% this week:
Year 3 with 98%
Year 6 with 96%
School Shoes
Thank you for the children looking so smart in their school uniform this year.
As you know, children at School of Christ the King are required to wear PLAIN BLACK SHOES. Although we prefer shoes, as an alternative we do accept PLAIN BLACK TRAINERS. However recently, a number of children have been coming to school wearing black trainers with brand markings (e.g stripes or ticks). These types of footwear are not permitted in school.
We do however appreciate that parents would rather buy new school shoes ready for school in September and we are happy to bend the rules until then; as long as children return wearing PLAIN BLACK SHOES in September!
Reading during the summer
Research shows that children who read for 10 minutes a day during the summer holidays make better progress in school than those who don't read. Here are some websites to give ideas and free resources to keep your children reading through the summer, and make the start back in September easier for them:

Dear Parents/Carers,

Parent Governor Vacancy

As I am sure you are aware, all schools have a Governing Body who support the Headteacher and the Senior Leadership Team in their endeavours to make this school an outstanding establishment where all children thrive.

We now have a vacancy on our Governing Body for a Parent Governor.  All parents are eligible to apply for this voluntary role and we would ask you to contact the school office if you would like your name to be put forward.

Meetings are termly and  run from 3:30 to 5:30pm.   An interest in the school and finding out more about the way that the school is managed is the first consideration and if you have any specific skills with budgets or experience with staffing issues you would be particularly welcome.

If you would like further information please speak to Miss Roberts in the office who will either be able to help you or will put you in touch with the Clerk to the Governors to answer any specific questions. Alternatively just come and have a chat with me about the role at the school gates.
We look forward to hearing from you.

NSPCC Speak Out. Stay Safe

The NSPCC’s Speak Out. Stay Safe. programme visited our school this week to make sure our pupils have the knowledge and understanding they need to stay safe from abuse.
This is a nationwide programme for every primary-school-aged child in the UK and Channel Islands. With the help of their friendly mascot Buddy, they presented an assembly and workshop to the children in our school.

100% Attendance from September 2017

The following children will be getting a special treat on Friday 20th July for their 100% attendance during the whole school year:-
Taylor, Justin and Chloe (Y2), Isabel, Moshii and Stephanie (Y3), Francine, Hannah, Oscar and Chiebuka (Y4), Christiana, Chloe and Bradley (Y5) and Kenzie-Joe and Dylan (Y6).

Eco Club

The GreenTeam have done incredible hard work in achieving the Bronze Eco School Award this year. As a result of their work the whole school is taking more care in sorting their recycling and are making sure they are not wasting energy on a daily basis.

To celebrate, the Green Team members will each be presented with a copy of the Bronze Award certificate during Monday's Celebration Assembly and are being treated to an extra special treat in their final meeting of this year together on Wednesday. Next year the Green Team will be continuing to meet together to work towards achieving the Silver Eco School Award.
