Dear Parents/Carers,
A reminder that on Monday 5th June is an INSET Day (school closed). This means the children return to school on Tuesday 6th June.
Incident Outside School Today

As some of you already know, there was an unpleasant confrontation in Hartcliffe Rd at the end of the school day today, which involved an argument between two adults. The police have been contacted and are investigating the incident.

School Uniform
Please can we remind you that children should be wearing the following school uniform:
  • grey / black trousers or skirts – no tracksuit bottoms
  • red sweatshirt or cardigan or fleece
  • white / red polo shirts
  • PLAIN BLACK SHOES
  • PE Kit (which is plain white t-shirt / plain black shorts and PE daps or trainers)
We all look forward to seeing the children looking their best when they return in June.
Sports Day
The date for this year’s sports day has changed and now will be on Monday 19th June. Years Reception - Y2 in the morning and Years 3-6 in the afternoon.
Celebrating Great Attendance

As you are aware, each term we have a 100% attendance presentation when each class will have a special draw where children can win a new storybook. We enter all children with 100% attendance and who have no more than 2 late arrivals to school. The next attendance assembly will be on Wednesday 7th June.

Cooking Course for Parents
At the end of June we have a visitor coming in to cook with parents.  There are 3 sessions which will cover the ‘Eatwell Plate’, portion size and healthy eating / healthy options.  There are a limited number of places and if you would be interested please let Joanne Selway know.  These sessions will run for 3 weeks on a Friday morning from 30th June from 9am - 11am.
Holidays and Long Weekends - a reminder!
It is highly unlikely that the school is able to authorise an absence due to holiday. Absences can only be authorised in  exceptional circumstances.
Due to government guidance, the school is expected to take action when children have 8 or more unauthorised sessions (4 days). This would normally be in the form of a fine of £60 per child per adult.
So where children have been on holiday in the current year or the previous year, or their attendance is low, it is likely that we will issue a fine if there are more than 8 unauthorised sessions.
Can I remind you that children should not be taken out of school on Mondays or Fridays for long weekends (unless there are exceptional circumstances and it has been agreed in advance).
I promise that we do not want to issue fines, but will have no choice where unauthorised absence is high.
Internet and Mobile Safety
As you will know, many children are accessing social media (i.e. Facebook etc) and sometimes using it inappropriately in ways that are causing distress to themselves and among their peers. May we remind you that these sites are aimed at people of at least 13 years or over and we have been advised by the police that you, as responsible parents, should be monitoring what sites/apps your children access.  Similar upsetting incidents have been seen recently through inappropriate texting between children. We take these incidents very seriously as they are a form of bullying.  If your child uses a mobile phone to text, please ensure that they know how to use it responsibly and are doing so.
Headteacher Awards
The Headteacher assembly will be at 9am on Wednesday 7th June and the following will be receiving the Headteacher’s certificate:
Kaleb (YR), Rosa (Y1), Emmanuel (Y2), Kenzie, Bosadee, Gracie S and Terry (Y3), Ellie and Josh (Y6).
