Friday 2 September 2022

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope you have all had a relaxing and happy summer. We are all in school preparing for the new school year and looking forward to seeing you all on Monday.

Drop off and pick up areas

Please be reminded that as your child enters a new year group, the arrangements for where they need to be dropped off in the morning and collected at the end of the day may have changed.

Arrangements for this school year will be as follows:

Reception, Year 1, Year 2 & Year 6 - To be dropped off and collected at the front of the school building

Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5 - To be dropped off and collected through the back entrance of the school accessed via the lane

If for any reason your child needs to be collected, or dropped off at an alternative entrance to those above, please contact the school office to discuss arrangements.

School Uniform

We are sure that most parents are more than prepared by now for their children to return to school on Monday, with new uniforms and resources ready for the start of the new school year.

Please be reminded however that whilst we have certain expectations surrounding our uniform, parents are by no means obliged to purchase jumpers/cardigans etc showing the school logo.

We understand that with the cost of living rising rapidly, uniforms can be a worry to some parents, so unbranded school jumpers are more than acceptable as long as they are in the school colours.

If you have any ongoing concerns surrounding the cost of uniform for your child/children, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will endeavour to support you with this.

Free School Meals

As your child enters a new year group, please be aware that there may be some changes surrounding their Free School Meal entitlement.

Children from Reception - Year 2 are automatically entitled to Universal Free School Meals

If your child is moving from Year 2 -to Year 3, please be aware that they are no longer entitled to Universal Free School Meals and you may need to start paying for school meals. If you are unsure if your child is entitled to Free School Meals, please speak with Miss Morse in the school office who will be able to confirm this for you.

If you think your child may be eligible for Free School Meals, please visit https://parent.bristol.gov.uk/web/portal/pages/parents/travel-and-free-school-meals to apply.

Barton Camp 2022 - Year 3 and Year 4

As you know, Barton Camp will be taking place in a few short weeks. Please be reminded that payment for camp needs to be made by Friday 9th September. We are also still awaiting a number of permission slips - if you have not yet returned yours, please do so as soon as possible. Further information will be sent home with children next week.

Medication

If your child requires medication that needs to be taken during the school day, please remember to send this into school with your child on Monday. Please ensure all medication is in it’s original container and clearly labelled with your child’s name.
